Situated on the outskirts of Legacurry, you will find this very fine example of a 12th Century early Norman fortification. The Motte is roughly triangular in shape and is guarded on the west side by a substantial ditch and bank, which, as War History buffs will know, would have provided an interesting tactical advantage for the fort.
Around the base of the mound a half-moon shaped bailey is clearly visible which would have been ample for over fifty people to use as a modest living space.
Once you've had your fill of Norman history and exploration, a visit to Spruce Meadows would be ideal for some great activities including archery, which should fit the tone nicely!
